Serendipity

The Calm in Complete Chaos

Thank You!

Thank you to the best team I could’ve asked for. To the team that kept me grounded when everything else in my life was uncertain. The team that gave me so much in a time when I felt so little. I hadn’t truly believed in serendipity until I met this amazing team that I am so proud to call my little work family.

On January 16th of 2023, I would find myself walking into an old wretched building, it reminded me of myself, run down and broken in so many ways. I was nervous, I had spent 8 years on my own, priding my life on my work. This drastic change threw me off and I wasn’t sure If I was going to be ready. I lied… I knew I wasn’t ready but I got out of my car and walked into the building. Little did I know my entire life would change.

I met a small team who kept this building as pristine as they could. I was the new kid intruding on a team that already knew each other. I had to work hard to be able to keep up with what I felt like was a family that they had built for themselves. They ate lunch together, saw each other 5 days a week for 8 hours a day. This was something I wasn’t used to. It was strange to feel this sense of intimacy again. I felt like a spectator for a while. Watching and observing there relationships. Listening to the stories they would tell, laughing about the mundane every day things that, for so long was lost to me. What I thought would take a while to get used to didn’t take long at all. They were amazing and welcomed me with open arms. Taught me right and wrong, they were patient with my ignorance.

Days to weeks to months flew by, I knew I wasn’t going to be with them for long but thank the “Custodial God” – An inside joke between our small team, I was kept with my team for longer than anyone had expected. I am the best I’ve ever been thanks to everyone.

Thank you to my amazing little work family, my friends, our team, who cared and gave me purpose after a hard couple years. Your patience and kindness rejuvenated the boy inside of me. Coming into work was easier than it had ever been in the last 8 years. The bright and comforting atmosphere that this team emitted made it easy for anyone to feel welcomed.

Thank you to my amazing work family, my friends, people who cared and gave me purpose after a hard couple years. Thank you Cveta, you were patient with me and taught me a lot while I was there. Thank you Roxanna and Zana (I apologize if I spelled your name wrong), you made work enjoyable. I loved being able to see the both of you at work. It felt brighter and lighter when you two were in the room. Thank you Jeff, Kevin and Eric, you all made me laugh and gave me a sense of belonging. I was nervous about this new drastic change in my life but it was easier thanks to all of you. Lastly, James. A damn good friend that I was blessed to have while I was there. You weren’t just my boss, you were my confidant, my friend and someone who reignited my flame and passion in life.

So many laughs were shared, so many great conversations. What others may see as just normal, I got to see as a healing opportunity. Thank you to the best team I could’ve asked for. This isn’t the end, I’ll see all of you around. You can’t get rid of me that easily.

~Thank you

About Me

I’m no one more special than any of you reading this. I work as a custodian during the evenings but every other time of the day I spend chasing a dream I’ve had since I was 16.
I have always believed there to be more to this life and I hope with this blog, my stories and journey in life, that I can share my experiences with all of you.
