Someone asked me “How do you know what you want to do in life? You always seem to know what you want?”
I chuckled a bit, not because I was being arrogant but because I must’ve been playing this game really well to make it seem like I have my life in check. The honest answer to the question is “I don’t know what the hell I’m doing.”
No one, no matter how old or young will ever know what they are truly doing. Life is such an unexpected journey, a crazy rollercoaster that doesn’t ever stop. The only difference is, I don’t think I can ever settle until I feel a sense a warmth from my heart about what I’m doing. I’ve never felt that, never really felt complete with myself. That is why I’m always working on 100 different things to see what sticks on the walls of life. I need to keep moving, because if i’m not I’ll be complicit with this life I’m not happy with.
Remember, we all wear a mask. This mask is to protect us and sometimes that looks like we have our lives together. Looks like we are happy and strong. Underneath the mask, we are all the same. Humans looking and seeking for something that we aren’t even sure exist. Wear the mask so you don’t get hurt, but understand no one knows how to navigate life. We may know bits and pieces no one is the same. Keep moving and keep seeking for your happiness.
Sometimes it’s okay to admit to yourself that you don’t know. I don’t know what I’m doing but at least i’m trying.
