Embracing Humanity: Finding Unity in a Divided World

In a world where constant news highlights the pain and suffering around us, divisions based on race, culture and opinions become more pronounced. Unity becomes an after thought, overshadowed by the fear of judgement and the need to be right. We tend to view others as hostile because of there opinions and even so because of there silence, stripping away the shared humanity that connects us. Despite our ever growing flaws, we must remember that we are all human.

In a flawed world, we face a constant battle, an endless cycle that continues to crack the foundation that connects us all. While we hold various opinions and differences, we must also recognize the value in learning from one another. Not everyone we meet will be liked, and some may not be ready to open their minds to the world around them. You, however, are the constant in the equation. You must learn to control your thoughts and emotions during these rigid times.

People’s opinions stem from circumstances we may not understand or the cultural nuances we may not be aware of. Conversations can teach us about our own ignorance. It is not about right or wrong, but about understanding that you cannot do more than what you have already done. We are responsible for the information that we take in, to vet that information and understand what it can do for us. The beauty of being human is the freewill given to us, the freewill to build upon our character and adapt to our situation.

I do not judge other’s for there opinions or choices, for I know the changes that it took for me to get to where I am. I was not always this way. I too was judgmental and in doing so have lost a lot. It was the exposure to conversations with those outside of my life that allowed for me to understand the world was far bigger than I understood it to be. Unity is not just about community, but the understanding that as humans we will provide and love one another in whatever way we possibly can.

It was during some of the toughest parts of my life that it would be complete strangers who reminded me of the kindness that still existed in the world. Memories that I cherish and tell to those who need to hear it. Complete strangers who offered me a helping hand when I thought that it was the end for me. They will never understand the actions and conversations that we had would become the catalyst for everything I live by today. I hope one day to share this to these people but in the mean time I will continue to share my words of wisdom with you in hopes of changing the world one word at a time.

About Me

I’m no one more special than any of you reading this. I work as a custodian during the evenings but every other time of the day I spend chasing a dream I’ve had since I was 16.
I have always believed there to be more to this life and I hope with this blog, my stories and journey in life, that I can share my experiences with all of you.
